French-Algerian Fugitive Arrested in Morocco on Interpol Red Notice

Wanted by French judicial authorities, a French national of Algerian origin was arrested on Monday, June 9, in Tifelt by police services under the regional prefecture of national security.
While checking the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-Interpol) during an identity check, agents discovered that the suspect, aged 37, was the subject of a red notice. The Franco-Algerian is wanted by French justice to serve a custodial sentence, following his final conviction for participation in an armed violence incident that occurred in 2021 near a place of worship in the suburbs of Lyon.
The accused has been placed in custody, at the disposal of the competent prosecutor’s office, pending the completion of his extradition procedure to France. The arrest of this French citizen of Algerian origin is proof of the good police cooperation between Paris and Rabat, particularly in the fight against transnational crime and the search for individuals subject to international arrest warrants.
