French Actor Gérard Lanvin Defends Moroccan Residence Amid Tax Exile Accusations

In an interview, French actor Gérard Lanvin responds to his critics who accuse him of settling in Marrakech to avoid paying taxes in France.

"All the money we give to taxes in France is useless. Those who accuse me of living in Morocco to avoid paying taxes are idiots," Gérard Lanvin reacted in an interview with TV Magazine this week. He explains that he rents his house and doesn’t have a company. "[...] I’m a movie actor, I take my money, I divide it in two, I leave some in France and I bring the rest home," continued the French actor, before revealing that he had "read on the internet that [he] was a billionaire." "How can I be one working once every year and a half?" he questioned. "We’re not paid like Brad Pitt."

Gérard Lanvin owns a "paradise house, surrounded by a magnificent plot of land," the actor described in the columns of Journal de la Maison on October 2, 2024. "There, our house with land, a vegetable garden and chickens is worth the price of 2 m² in Paris," he also specified to Télé-Star in 2022. Between Gérard Lanvin and Morocco, it’s a love story that has lasted for many years. "People smile. I love the smells, cycling in the countryside, and the sun is good for morale, skin, as well as knees and shoulders, where I’m starting to hurt. Normal, at 71 years old!" he confided. He has settled in the kingdom, but he continues to work in France.
