Taking a few days or weeks off to visit Morocco is not forbidden for someone registered with France Travail. But the rules are strict. A job seeker must remain available to search for employment, respond to summons and accept the steps outlined in their support plan.

France Travail reminds that any absence of more than seven days from the usual residence must be declared before departure. This applies to vacations, family trips or extended stays abroad. Morocco is therefore not exempt from this obligation.

Unemployment benefits can continue to be paid during absence, but only within a specific limit: 35 cumulative days per calendar year, from January 1st to December 31st. These days can be taken all at once or in several trips. A person making multiple trips to Morocco must therefore add up all their absence periods.

Beyond this limit, France Travail may consider that the job seeker is no longer available to take a position. Benefit payments may then be suspended. In case of undeclared absence, the situation may also result in a sanction, removal from the register or a request for reimbursement if benefits were paid in error.

Before leaving, it is therefore advisable to notify France Travail of your absence, check the number of days already used in the year and remain reachable.
