France to Require Health Pass for Moroccan Students Amid COVID Restrictions

The extension of the health pass to cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, as well as to planes, trains, long-distance buses and medical establishments planned in August in France coincides with the arrival of Moroccan students on French territory. Conditions will be imposed on the latter.

In France, the health pass that will come into effect on July 21 will apply to everyone, from the age of 12 onwards, and will then be extended "in early August" to cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, as well as to planes, trains, long-distance buses and medical establishments. This, after the prior vote of a law and its promulgation. De facto, vaccination will be almost compulsory for everyone, including foreigners residing in France. However, Moroccan students who will go to France in August will not be vaccinated against Covid-19, as Morocco has recently started vaccinating the 35-39 age group. In France, people between the ages of 12 and 17 are already being vaccinated.

"Moroccan students will have to comply with all the conditions required of French students," the French Embassy in Morocco told Médias24. This includes the health pass. "This measure will also be required of Moroccan students in France, just like the French and foreigners residing in France," it specifies, adding that Moroccan students with documents proving their ’student’ status will be able to get vaccinated upon arrival on French territory. "The procedure is simple. They can make an appointment on the Doctolib platform, and get vaccinated in the hospital or vaccination center closest to their home," it further specifies.

France has classified Morocco in the orange zone, a country where the circulation of the virus still exists, but is under control and where there is no worrying variant. The entry conditions for vaccinated travelers from the kingdom, including students, are as follows: present a negative PCR test of less than 72 hours or a negative antigen test of less than 48 hours when boarding in Morocco, towards France, another random antigen test that can be done upon entry in France, in addition to a 7-day self-isolation, before being able to circulate on French territory.
