France Refuses Moroccan Woman’s Visa Despite Two Wedding Delays and Five Urgent Appeals
A 31-year-old woman living in Morocco is trying to obtain a French visa to celebrate her wedding in Toulouse. Despite postponing the ceremony several times and filing five urgent appeals, she has been unable to overturn the French authorities’ refusal, which is based on concerns that she may settle permanently in France.

On March 5, 2026, the French consulate in Rabat refused to issue a short-stay visa to the woman, who wishes to marry a French national. The couple plans to marry at Toulouse city hall. But administrative procedures have disrupted her schedule, and the future bride has filed a series of appeals with the Nantes administrative court.

In an order dated May 6, 2026, the applicant explains that the ceremony, then scheduled for June 5, had already been postponed twice. She also says the couple cannot marry in Morocco because of her future husband’s religious beliefs. She also wants to be able to return to the Kingdom to sit her university exams.
Her French partner is also taking action. At the April 29 hearing, the judge exceptionally allows him to speak, although he is not a party to the proceedings.
The legal attempts follow one another. A first appeal was rejected on March 31 because the person who signed it was not entitled to bring proceedings, and a second was rejected on April 3 for lack of urgency. The subsequent applications, considered on May 6 and 26, also failed, with the judges finding no sufficiently serious argument to suspend the visa refusal.
France fears she will stay after the wedding
The French administration justifies its decision by pointing to the applicant’s personal circumstances. Aged 31, single and without sufficiently documented family ties in her country of residence, she wants to join her future husband, who lives in France. The deputy director of visas considers these circumstances to pose a risk that the visa could be used for immigration purposes.
The young woman disputes this assessment. She argues that the sincerity of her plans to marry has not been challenged by the public prosecutor and invokes her freedom to marry.
A new date for the ceremony is announced: August 8, 2026. In her appeal filed in June, she asks the court to suspend the refusal and require a provisional visa to be issued within three days, subject to a penalty of 150 euros for each day of delay.
But the decision comes well after the announced wedding date. In its order dated October 12, 2026, the Nantes administrative court rejects this fifth urgent application. The judge finds that none of the arguments presented raises serious doubts about the legality of the administrative decision.
A separate appeal seeking to have the visa refusal annulled was also filed on June 11. The October order does not rule on that substantive case.
