The French coach responded without directly reigniting the controversy. "In every match, there are situations that can be debated. It depends on which side you’re on… Yes, it could be whistled, but the referee didn’t think so. What happened, we can’t change it," he declared.

Deschamps also tried to dismiss the idea of revenge, preferring to focus on the quarter-final. He hoped there would be "as few errors as possible from both sides" during the match.

Tension rose especially at the end of the conference, when Didier Deschamps wanted to end the exchanges. Several Moroccan journalists protested, feeling they hadn’t had enough time to ask their questions.

"If there are 50 of you raising your hands, I’m not going to answer 50 questions. I have training to prepare, other obligations…" replied the French coach.
