France Issues Majority of Schengen Visas for Moroccan Travelers, Study Shows

The Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) has recently published figures on Moroccan travel in 2019. It appears that Morocco is the 5th country in terms of volume of Schengen visas issued.
In detail, the number of Schengen area visas approved in 2019 reached 544,062 for Morocco (3.6% of the total visas issued), of which 57% for France and 31% for Spain.
This number makes Morocco the 5th country in volume behind Russia (27%), China (19%), India (6.7%), Turkey (5.4%) and Belarus (4.3%). Relative to the number of tourists traveling abroad, Morocco is the 1st with 27.1%, it is specified.
However, the Turkish destination has emerged, driven by the highest annual growth (+16.9%) representing 12% of Moroccan departures abroad in 2019, thus gaining 9 points over the past decade.
In addition, travel expenses increased by 8.3% from 2010 to 2019 to reach 20.9 billion dirhams (MMDH) against an increase of only 3.8% for receipts, noted the DEPF.
