Former Wall Street Trader Arrested in Major Cannabis Bust in France

Chouaib Jhouri was arrested in March after the discovery of 475 kilos of cannabis at his home in Beauvais. A candidate in the last municipal elections in Beauvais, the young man of Moroccan origin is not at all a drug trafficker.
Elegant and eloquent, with a professional career in the world of finance as a trader in New York and Switzerland, Chouaib Jhouri is suspected of drug trafficking. He was placed in detention on March 13, 2023 after the discovery of 475 kg of cannabis, two automatic weapons and bulletproof vests at his home in Beauvais, reports Le Courrier Picard.
The young man of Moroccan origin, who grew up between Notre-Dame-du-Thil and La Soie Vauban, had legal troubles. Manager of the shisha bar Le Dream’s installed rue du 27 juin, between 2013 and 2017, he was tried before the Beauvais criminal court in February 2017, after the discovery of drugs during a search in the establishment. He and his partner were ultimately acquitted.
For his relatives, Chouaïb Jhouri, who presented himself as a golden boy, was the victim of bad company. "He trusted people and got trapped," assures his brother. The young man is a long-time sympathizer of the Republicans and participated as a "simple activist" in the legislative campaign of Olivier Dassault in 2012.
Four years earlier, he would have already tried to join the municipal team of Caroline Cayeux. "He’s a very nice guy, who is unfortunately the caricature of the neighborhood guy who has succeeded," confides an elected official. "He’s an intelligent and well-integrated person. With in addition the quality of having a good analysis of things and of having a frank speech," emphasizes Philippe Enjolras, opposition elected member of the Beauvais municipality.
