Former Tunisian President Warns of Regional Threat to Morocco and Maghreb Union

Former Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki declared, at the Maghreb Forum in El Jadida, that Morocco is the target of a "counter-revolution" led by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
"What is happening in Libya represents not only a threat to this country, which is a member of the Maghreb Union; it is also a direct threat to Tunisia and Algeria, but also to Morocco," said Moncef Marzouki in a video intervention broadcast during the 11th Maghreb Forum, organized by the MADA Study and Research Center, from January 17 to 20 in El Jadida.
He argues that "the counter-revolution led by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, is not only targeting Algeria and Tunisia, but also Morocco". The reason is that this "counter-revolution has not forgiven Morocco and King Mohammed VI for having listened in 2011 to the demands of the street", but also "for not having been against a government led by Islamists", explains the former Tunisian president.
Moncef Marzouki’s intervention focused on the importance of reviving the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), created in February 1989. Since 1994, the AMU has been in a state of lethargy.
