Former US Priest Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Sex Abuse in New Mexico

A former Catholic priest has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by a U.S. court for sexually abusing minors in a church in New Mexico over four decades. The subject of a red notice issued by the U.S. justice system, he was arrested last year by the Judicial Police elements of Tangier.
The former U.S. Air Force colonel, now 81 years old, had taken refuge in Morocco, before being expelled by the authorities of the country. According to Attorney General John Anderson, "no crime can be compared to the sexual abuse of a minor. Thanks to today’s judgment, Perrault will finally have to answer for his actions".
Last April, Arthur Perrault had been convicted on six counts, including aggravated rape and sexual abuse of a minor during the years 1991 and 1992 at the Cartland air base and in a cemetery.
The Prosecutor added that the former priest was in the habit of sexually abusing a 9-year-old child, now a civil party, by offering him gifts and trips. The Court’s decision was based on the repeated rapes perpetrated by the pedophile over the 30 years of his service at the church in New Mexico.
