Former Moroccan Privatization Minister Abderrahmane Saaidi Dies at 74

The former Minister of Privatization (1993-1998) passed away in the night from Monday, May 11 to Tuesday, May 12 at the age of 74. He was an eminent financier, tax specialist and consultant for companies.
Born in Rabat on November 11, 1946, Abderrahmane Saaidi was a multidisciplinary technocrat who was of great help in the design and implementation of the reforms of the 1990s, particularly the tax reforms. "Holder of a bachelor’s degree in business law from the University of Montpellier, then a diploma from the Montpellier School of Commerce in 1973, and a French diploma as a chartered accountant in 1976", the late Abderrahmane Saaidi taught in France from 1973 to 1976, then at the Higher Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE) in Casablanca where he taught accounting, financial management, management control and taxation.
He accompanied numerous conferences and publications, such as the book on "Corporate Accounting and Moroccan Law" in 1980, as well as various articles, reports challenge.ma
He had held various ministerial positions, including that of Privatization, in charge of state-owned enterprises in 1993, and from August 1997 to 1998, that of Economic Incentive. From July 1, 2000, he was appointed CEO of SAMIR. He was also vice-president of the Arbitration Court of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-Maroc), and honorary president of the Moroccan Association of Chartered Accountants (AMDEC) and the Moroccan Association of Auditors and Internal Controllers (AMACI). He was also a member of the President’s Club of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and the Advisory Committee of the US-Morocco Council on Trade & Investment.
