Former Moroccan Olympic Athlete Arrested for Alleged Taxi Driver Assault and Theft Attempt

A former athlete, a repeat offender, was arrested on Wednesday near El Hajeb. He is accused of attempted theft and assault on a taxi driver with tear gas.
It all started with a race between the athlete and a driver, reports Al Massae. It is a former athlete who has proven himself at the 1996 Olympics and the world cross country championships. During the shuttle, the driver would have accused him of attempted theft and assault with tear gas.
During the assault, the driver would have resisted his assailant before fleeing. In his flight, the victim fell on a gendarmerie patrol, which was patrolling near the scene of the incident.
Arrested, the former Moroccan champion was taken into custody for the purposes of the investigation and pending his appearance before the competent prosecutor’s office. The accused, a repeat offender, has already been incarcerated for 20 years in France for his involvement in the murder of a gendarme.
