Former Moroccan Minister’s Son Gets 3 Years for Fake Mask Scheme

Nearly 6 months after his arrest, the son of Me Ziane was sentenced to 3 years in prison with a fine of 30,000 DH. He is accused of being allegedly involved in a case of manufacturing and selling counterfeit surgical masks.
The case dates back to last April when a private clinic filed a complaint against the defendant and his accomplices for fraud and scam. The investigations carried out by the judicial police elements made it possible to arrest nine people, including the son of the former minister and that of the human rights defender, Mohamed Nouaidi.
The other accomplices were sentenced to 8 months to 5 years in prison. As for the son of the human rights defender, Mohamed Nouaidi, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
