Former Moroccan Minister Dodges Court Summons in Fès Construction Scandal

Despite the many summons sent to him, the former President of the Fès-Boulemane Regional Council persists in not appearing before the Court of First Instance of Fès. His testimony is required in a trial related to the construction of a covered hall during his term.
According to the Akhbarona website, 5 defendants are being prosecuted for irregularities affecting the project to build a covered hall in Fès. The 12 hearings held since the start of the trial on June 27, 2018 have been postponed due to the absence of the main witness.
The website adds that the former Minister was summoned by the investigating judge, in his capacity as former President of the Fès-Boulemane Regional Council, to testify in this trial where entrepreneurs and employees are being prosecuted for fraud and embezzlement of public funds.
All means have been used by the judges to summon the witness who each time justifies his absences with medical certificates. They will currently have to turn to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
