Former Moroccan MP’s Land Spoliation Trial Delayed Until June 21

MP Rachid El Fayek and his co-defendants will have to wait until June 21 to be informed of their fate. This is the decision taken by the Court of Appeal of Fez, at the hearing last Tuesday marked by the in-person appearance of the main accused.
MP El Fayek and 15 other people are accused of "land spoliation" of the Commune of Ouled Tayeb (Prefecture of Fez). The list of charges against these 16 people is quite long.
They are prosecuted for "constituting a criminal gang specialized in the spoliation of Soulaliyate lands", "corruption", "fraud", "abuse of power", "violation of laws and regulations in force, particularly urban planning", "falsification of official documents and their use by public officials", among others.
The accused have been divided into two groups, according to their degree of involvement. Even if there is a group in pre-trial detention and the other at liberty, all 16 accused will answer the serious charges against them at the hearing scheduled for June 21.
