Former Moroccan Land Registry Employee Jailed for Multi-Million Dirham Real Estate Fraud

A former employee of the Land Registry in Temara was sentenced to 4 years in prison with a lump sum compensation of one million dirhams to be paid to two of her victims.
The defendant, whose trial ended last Friday, was prosecuted for fraud of several tens of millions of dirhams against about twenty businessmen to whom she had promised the acquisition of real estate assets that were the subject of disputes.
Having fled abroad, the woman had been extradited by the Spanish authorities, following an international arrest warrant issued by the Moroccan judicial authorities.
Subject to an internal investigation carried out by the general inspection of the national agency for land registry and cadastre, the defendant was arrested in Malaga, after having managed to cross the Tanger-Med port.
