Former Moroccan Health Minister Tayeb Bencheikh Dies at 81

Tayeb Bencheikh, former Moroccan Minister of Health, died on Sunday night into Monday from a long illness. He was 81 years old.
A member of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) for 30 years, of which he was one of the founders, Bencheikh was several times a minister, notably Minister in charge of Planning and Regional Development (1979-1982), Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs (1983-1985) and Minister of Health (1985-1992).
A member of the House of Representatives from 1977 to 1984, he had graduated from the Institute of Political Studies and the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (INSEA) in Paris and was decorated with several national and international Orders.
His funeral is scheduled this afternoon at the Hay Ryad cemetery in Rabat, just after the Al Asr prayer.
