Former Moroccan Environment Minister Exits Politics After Secret Marriage

While some members of her political family accuse her of distancing herself from the Popular Movement (MP) in the midst of a crisis, the former deputy minister in charge of the Environment in the Benkirane government has decided to end her political activities due to her recent marriage.
Hakima El Haité is not one of the supporters of the "current for change" that has just been born. Her decision is not synonymous with solidarity with the "current for change", born within the MP, which has recently formed within the party, reports Al Massae.
This decision by the former minister is justified by her recent marriage to a high-ranking army officer from a well-known family in Rabat. The former deputy minister in charge of the Environment in the Benkirane government has wanted to keep this marriage secret; but the publication of the congratulatory message from the Liberal International on social networks has made the information public.
It was in 2003 that the former minister joined the Popular Movement. Over the years, she has fought to become a member of the political bureau. In charge of international relations, a position to which she was appointed in 2012, she was vice-president of the Liberal International, a position she held concurrently with that of minister in 2015.
In October 2017, the "Al Hoceima Manarat Al Mourawassit" affair led to her departure from the government. She disappeared from the radar until her unanimous election in December 2018 in Dakar to the position of president of the Liberal International, during the 62nd congress of this body.
