Former Moroccan Athlete Jaouad Tougane Sentenced to 8 Months for Theft in Spain

Eight months in prison for the former Moroccan athlete, Jaouad Tougane. He was sentenced by a court in Valencia, Spain where he resides. The 30-year-old man is accused of multiple thefts.
The time when Jaouad Tougane was the pride of the athletic world seems far away. The man found himself on the other side of the fence by multiplying thefts and other behaviors contrary to the norms of society.
A repeat offender thief, he was convicted after having benefited from many leniencies from the authorities and the justice system. Becoming a drug addict, the former athlete has recently committed numerous thefts of goods in Valencia and its region, mainly in household appliance stores, in order to finance his drug use.
While his three-month prison sentence had been suspended by the Spanish justice system in favor of a three-year probation, with a formal ban on entering shopping centers, where he became famous for his misdeeds, Tougane relapsed and was arrested.
This time, he stole a vacuum cleaner robot and two walkie-talkies. Sad fate for this 5,000 meter specialist, who in 2016 had given up participating in the Rio Olympics with Morocco and who won the Valencia marathon a year ago.
