Former Moroccan MP Arrested for Allegedly Orchestrating Attack on Mother over Inheritance Dispute

A former parliamentarian (from the Constitutional Union) would have been arrested in the context of one of the most scandalous cases. He would have called a gang to invade his mother’s villa, assault her and then throw her out.
For a sordid inheritance affair, a former parliamentary representative would have hired the services of a gang to attack his mother in the middle of her villa before throwing her out on the street, according to Al Akhbar. The same source specifies that he did this with the aim of being delivered shares of an inheritance.
Al Akhbar also explains that this individual is before the justice of Fez for other cases, related to this same inheritance, but this time for, among other things, fraud and document forgery in order to, explains Al Akhbar, "appropriate the shares of his siblings and his mother in the inheritance left by his father".
In addition, Al Akhbar states: "This case began in 2013 when disagreements between the Mernissi brothers over their father’s inheritance began to evolve, going as far as the use of violence". Thus, the former parliamentarian would have sent from Fez several members of a gang, armed to the teeth with swords and sticks, to ransack the house, assault the domestic staff and guards, and throw the mother out. One of the guards had a finger amputated while others were injured or tied up.
This former parliamentarian is now before the courts to answer for the acts attributed to him. A first hearing took place on Tuesday at the Tangier Court of Appeal. This resulted in the acceptance of the case for it to be tried properly as a criminal offense.
