Former AC Milan Prodigy Hachim Mastour's Career Takes Unexpected Turn

Hachim Mastour was destined for a great career in football. The Moroccan prodigy had marked his passage at Milan, to the point of arousing the interest of major European clubs like Barça, Real Madrid and PSG. But after that, it was the descent into hell for the 26-year-old Moroccan striker.

After his promising debut, Hachim Mastour has had an unsuccessful career. The young player full of talent, who played alongside stars like Neymar in a sponsored video, did not make a sensation in his various clubs. "It’s impossible to take the ball away from Hachim. He runs at an incredible speed. He has grown up. He is very young and has a lot of room for improvement. With the talent he has, he is really an ideal player to play at San Siro," said Omar Danesi, then coach of the Milan under-17 team, about Mastour in 2014.

Talking about his experience at Milan, the Atlas Lion said: "The world of football is not easy, I suffered a lot, the clubs and advisors saw me more as an opportunity to make a profit than as a sporting opportunity with which we must be patient." The winger made his debut in the youth categories of Reggio Emilia, before joining AC Milan for more than a million euros in 2012, recalls Sport. His performances in the Primavera tournament (Italian youth tournament) earned him a selection in the Italian under-16 national team.

A few years later, he decided to wear the Moroccan jersey. It was on June 12, 2015 against Libya (1-0). After these performances, the attacking midfielder began to sink, forcing Milan to loan him to Malaga during the 2014/15 season. But Mastour failed to establish himself in La Liga. His statistics are pitiful: he hardly played any matches. Upon his return to Milan after this failed stint at Malaga, the Italian club decided to send the young player on loan to PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands for the 2016-2017 season. In the Dutch club, the Moroccan winger did not live up to expectations either.

The Atlas Lion continued his descent into hell at PAS Lamia, a Greek club he joined as a free agent. Here too, he only plays six matches and barely provides one assist. In the other clubs he has passed through in the following two seasons, namely Reggina and Carpi, Mastour has scored only one goal and provided one assist in 22 matches. In 2022, still without a club, he joins RCA Zemamra then Union Touarga in Morocco, his country of origin. In these two clubs, the 26-year-old player has not been able to relaunch his career, which seems to be over.
