Former Istiqlal Party Leader Faces Parliamentary Allowance Cut for Extended Absence
The parliamentary allowances that the former secretary of the Istiqlal party, Hamid Chabat, continues to receive will be reduced, as the procedure stipulates. This is the decision of El Malki, the President of the House of Representatives.
While he now lives between Turkey and Europe, the former secretary general of the Istiqlal party continued to receive the full amount of his parliamentary allowances. But the President of the House of Representatives has just blown the whistle on the end of the recess, reported the daily Al Massae.
In Parliament, Hamid Chabat has been absent for more than a year without being questioned. But this time El Malki is taking the situation very seriously. The allowances will be reduced. And the same procedure will apply to four other MPs with publication in the Official Bulletin.
The newspaper stresses that this measure is clearly stipulated in the texts of the Constitution and the internal regulations of the House of Representatives. It can reach a cut of up to 1,300 dirhams per day of absence from plenary sessions and committees.
