Former IMF Chief Strauss-Kahn Embraces Moroccan Life, Calls Country "Necessary to France"

Dominique Strauss-Kahn (DSK), former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and former French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry, never misses an opportunity to declare his love for Morocco, the country of his wife, Myriam L’Aouffir.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn has fallen in love with Morocco and doesn’t leave it. For 16 years, he has been living in Casablanca with Franco-Moroccan businesswoman Myriam L’Aouffir, who officially became his wife in 2017. The couple owns a sumptuous villa nestled in the heart of a palm grove, located about ten kilometers from Marrakech. "Morocco is more necessary to France than France is to Morocco. As a French national, I also feel Moroccan, it warms my heart," the former IMF chief stated in an interview with L’Observateur last December. He said he was convinced that cooperation between Morocco and France "is a good thing."

Morocco is his second country, for several reasons. "I feel as Moroccan as I do French. I spent my childhood in this country. I’ve been here now for 15 years. My wife is Moroccan. Many of my friends are Moroccan. My children are in France, so my heart is divided. But I feel very Moroccan. I have no difficulty saying it," he stated in an interview with BFM TV in September 2023.

In 2013, the former French minister founded the consulting firm "Parnasse International" in Morocco, which offers its services to African governments and private companies. For him, the kingdom is a land of opportunities. He benefits from resident status there. "Morocco has great economic potential and offers enormous investment opportunities," DSK emphasized on May 11, 2023, during the 2nd edition of the "Promotion and Investment Days," held in Dakhla at the initiative of the City Promotion Agency.
