Forbes Ranks Morocco Among Riskiest Destinations for LGBTQ Travelers

Forbes magazine indicated, in a report published on Tuesday, March 23, that Morocco is not a safe destination for members of the LGBTQ community.
Morocco, although coveted by tourists, is ranked among the most risky destinations for gays and LGBTQ people in general. "Although it is a dream destination with incredible landscapes, Morocco ranks 18th" of the worst destinations for gays, writes the famous magazine. Behind Morocco are Egypt (19th) and Algeria (20th). Forbes explains that Morocco ended up in this position due to the severity with which the law punishes gays. They risk a prison sentence of 6 months to three years in addition to the payment of fines.
This ranking places Nigeria at the top of the most risky countries for the LGBTQ community, just before Saudi Arabia where it is not recommended to use dating apps and websites. The same report ranks Canada at the top of the countries that welcome gays with open arms. It is followed by the Netherlands and Sweden.
