Food Poisoning Outbreak Strikes Breast Cancer Awareness Trek in Morocco, Investigation Launched

The authorities have decided to open an investigation to shed light on the food poisoning suffered by some 200 French tourists who participated in late October in the solidarity trek "Rose Trip" to raise awareness about breast cancer.
According to statements from some participants, they would have been victims of food poisoning manifested by diarrhea and abundant vomiting, headaches and abdominal pain. Some of them said they collapsed on the ground and were transferred by ambulance to the hospital.
The Al3omk site collected the testimony of a participant who told him that the bacteriological tests proved positive for some of them. The participants criticized the hygiene conditions of the tourist camp in Merzouga where they stayed during their stay, noting the proximity of the open-air septic tanks to the kitchen.
