Floods in Morocco: Here is the amount of aid and how to benefit from it
The Moroccan government unveiled this Friday a vast support plan for the victims of the recent floods in the north and west of the country. On royal instructions, direct aid ranging from 6,000 to 140,000 dirhams has been released to support affected families and rebuild destroyed homes.
Faced with the extent of the damage caused by the exceptional rainfall of the last two months, the Executive is putting in place a precise compensation scale. The system provides for emergency aid of 6,000 dirhams per family, an envelope of 15,000 dirhams for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and businesses, and up to 140,000 dirhams for the complete reconstruction of collapsed homes.
To benefit from the emergency aid, which will be paid out as early as next week, the procedure has been simplified. The heads of the affected families will have to send an SMS to the number 1212 mentioning their National Identity Card (CNIE) number and their date of birth. For reconstruction aid, specialized commissions will be deployed on the ground to carry out a rigorous and transparent assessment of the damage.
The program also includes an ambitious agricultural component to save the season. Subsidies for the purchase of seeds, fertilizers and livestock feed are planned, as well as a recovery plan for spring crops. This comprehensive plan aims not only to compensate for material losses, but also to facilitate the rapid return of the evacuated populations to their homes.
