First Moroccan Pilgrims Depart for Hajj 2019 in Saudi Arabia

Morocco is active in the participation of its nationals in this year’s Hajj. The first group of pilgrimage candidates has already taken its flight, on Thursday, July 18, 2019, to Saudi Arabia.
Before the first contingent took off from Rabat-Salé Airport for Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Toufiq, the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, carried a message from King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, addressed to the future pilgrims.
In this message, the Sovereign reminds them of the Moroccan values they must demonstrate throughout the pilgrimage. He also asked them to be the standard-bearers of the secular civilization and the identity of the Kingdom. These principles boil down to attachment to sacred symbols and national constants, namely moderation and the spirit of the just mean, doctrinal unity and the rejection of all forms of extremism and exclusion.
The message also informs that due to the human mobilization for the accomplishment of the Hajj, rigorous organizational and security arrangements are being made, as part of a concerted effort between the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to ensure the smooth running of the rite.
In addition, the Sovereign urges the future pilgrims to strictly respect the provisions and regulations in force, including those provided for by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, to ensure the best conditions for travel, stay, comfort, health care, administrative follow-up and religious supervision.
Speaking to the press, the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said that the increase in the number of Moroccan supervisors of future pilgrims, to reach a total of 800, instead of 650, is one of the novelties of the pilgrimage season 1440.
