Fire Quickly Extinguished at Morocco’s OCP Phosphate Plant, No Injuries Reported

The fire that broke out on Tuesday, September 4, in a new installation under construction at Maroc Phosphore II, at the industrial complex of the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) group, in Safi was quickly brought under control without causing any injuries.
The origin of this fire was a plastic pipe of an installation under construction and not yet commissioned by CMI, an international company specializing in this field. Triggered at 2 p.m., the fire only lasted 30 minutes before being brought under control by the OCP fire defense agents.
According to a source close to OCP, there was no impact on the environment or production, nor on the neighboring facilities. For the moment, the OCP group is conducting a detailed analysis of the causes of this incident.
