Fire Engulfs Bus Carrying Moroccan Expats Near Tangier, No Injuries Reported

A bus, connecting Tanger-Med to the city of Fès, caught fire this Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 9 a.m., at the exit of the highway. No deaths or injuries were reported among the passengers, including 27 Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).
According to 2M, the fire broke out a few minutes after the bus left the Port of Tanger-Med. Originally, a short circuit occurred on the front part of the bus, causing the fire.
The fire spread, engulfing the passengers’ luggage. The vehicle was also completely burned, despite the intervention of the Civil Protection services. No loss of human life was reported among the passengers. The 27 MREs, mostly from France, are all unharmed.
An investigation has been opened by the Royal Gendarmerie to determine the circumstances of the incident, as well as the responsibility of the company that owns the bus, especially since the accident could have had disastrous consequences.
