Fiorentina Blocks Sofyan Amrabat’s Transfer to Atlético Madrid, Retains Moroccan Midfielder

After making several clubs including Atlético Madrid run, Fiorentina no longer wants to let Sofyan Amrabat go. The club would have decided to keep the Moroccan defensive midfielder.
Several media outlets including Bladi.net had announced that the Moroccan international Sofyan was leaning towards a transfer to Atlético Madrid. In addition to the criteria that make the club the perfect choice, he is led by a coach whom the Moroccan player greatly admires. But according to the latest news, instead of a transfer, Fiorentina would have chosen to keep the Moroccan player.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Rocco Commisso, the president of the Italian club, has stated that the player is not for sale. He should even start negotiations for an extension until 2027. At 26 years old, the player’s contract expires in 2024 with one year option.
For its part, The Mirror indicates that Sofyan Amrabat’s entourage prefers him in Spain. The media claims that Atlético Madrid had even offered around 30 million euros and a 5-year deal. It remains to be seen whether the amount is sufficient to push Fiorentina to set aside its intention to keep the player.
