Fiat to Revive Multipla as Compact SUV, Production Shifting to Morocco

Fiat plans to reinvent the Multipla, as a compact SUV model, to replace the Tipo and the 500X. The new Multipla will be manufactured in Morocco.
The Italian brand is preparing the return of the Multipla, this minivan created in 1998, as a compact SUV. This new model will replace the Tipo and the 500X, two models that will disappear from the Fiat range, According to sources from the Italian manufacturer, the Tipo, launched at the end of 2015, will be produced until the end of 2025 in Turkey, while the production of the Fiat 500X in the Melfi plant in Italy will end in 2024, indicates Autopista.
Like the Argus, the Peugeot 208 and the Citroën Ami, Opel Rocks-e and Fiat Topolino electric vehicles, the new Fiat Multipla will be manufactured in the Stellantis plant in Kenitra, Morocco, French media report. At the end of 2022, the group had announced an investment of 300 million euros to double the production capacity of this plant up to 400,000 units per year by 2030.
The new Italian compact SUV will measure around 4.40 m in length and will have a capacity of five seats. It will be inspired, technically, by the upcoming Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, and the replacement for the Opel Crossland. An electric version of the future Fiat compact SUV could also be offered with thermal and micro-hybrid variants. The new Fiat Multipla should be put on sale in October 2025.
