Fez Officials Under Investigation for Car Auction Fraud Scheme

In Fez, a deputy, elected officials and civil servants find themselves in the sights of justice, for fraud in an auction sale of cars seized at the municipal pound after revelations to the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of the city.
It all started with a complaint from the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region about suspected fraud in an auction sale of cars seized at the municipal pound. In his complaint, the municipality of Fez reported that it had, on Thursday, July 28, carried out an operation to sell 130 seized and impounded cars, which had become unusable and unfit for circulation - destined for scrapping - and that the auction was awarded to one A.F. A., the sole bidder who participated in this operation, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar.
However, it was found that several cars on the list of acquisitions "were the subject of signature legalization" in the municipality by A.F. A. Subsequently, these cars are resold and returned to circulation, through forms bearing the signature of the third vice-president of the Fez municipal council, the USFP deputy Abdelkader Boussairi. The other accomplices would be several officials, elected officials of the municipality and civil servants of the vehicle registration center.

The municipality of Fez then decided to bring the case to justice. After the transmission of several documents attesting to cases of fraud in this market by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region to the Attorney General of the King, the deputy in charge of financial crimes instructed the Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police to open an investigation. Already, several computers and documents, including registration forms bearing the signature of the USFP elected official Abdelkader Boussairi, have been seized.
