Fez to Modernize Public Transit with 114 Locally-Made Buses

The municipality of Fez wants to modernize its urban transport network. The authorities of the city will soon launch a call for tenders for the acquisition of 114 new buses produced in Morocco.
Fez is preparing to renew its bus fleet. The city council has modified, during an extraordinary session, the terms of the agreements signed with the urban transport concessionaire to allow the city to have its own bus fleet.
A call for tenders will be launched in the coming days for the acquisition of these new buses, manufactured locally, has already announced Abdeslam Bekkali, the president of the Fez city council. This project marks an important step in the search for solutions to the urban transport problems in the city, it is assured.
To accelerate the process of acquiring these new buses, the municipality and the concessionaire have agreed to mobilize the funds in separate accounts. An investment of 228 million dirhams is expected from the concessionaire. The bulk of this amount will be used to acquire the new buses and to put used vehicles in good condition back into circulation.
