Fez Hotels Face Alcohol Ban Amid Corruption Allegations Against Lawmaker

The authorities in Fez have banned hotels belonging to MP Aziz Lebbar and other establishments in their territory from serving alcohol. A decision that follows the corruption allegations made against them.
The rag is burning between MP Aziz Lebbar and the governor (wali) of the Fez-Meknès region. The former accused the latter of corruption, and even threatened to reveal documents relating to the lack of investment in the city. The elected official made these corruption allegations against the wali after he was prevented from attending a meeting with the Moroccan Minister Delegate for Investment, Mouhcine Jazouli.
In videos circulated on social media, we see the deputy being escorted out of the hotel where the meeting was taking place. In a statement to the press, he explained that he had been denied entry for fear that he would speak about the investment problems in Fez. After the incident, the MP was taken to the hospital, reports the Arabic-language newspaper Assabah. He had just lost consciousness.
As retaliation, the authorities in Fez have prevented hotels belonging to the deputy and other establishments in the city from serving alcohol, reports Morocco World News (MWN). An incomprehensible decision for tourists staying in the hotels.
