Parking Scam in Fez: Three Sentenced to Prison for Ticket Forgery and Extortion

The Court of Appeal of Fez has confirmed the conviction of three people to a one-year prison sentence, including a parking attendant.
These individuals were accused of fraud, extortion of funds, usurpation of the function of car guard, as well as forgery and use of parking tickets.
The case began with the arrest of several "yellow vests" by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. These individuals were suspected of extortion, forgery and usurpation of function.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were forging parking tickets bearing the effigy of the city of Fez and wearing false uniforms bearing the name of the city. They used this strategy to extort money from motorists in exchange for forged receipts.
This case comes as the local authorities of Tangier and Casablanca have recently decided to suspend the issuance of parking attendant permits on the streets and public squares.
