Fès Police Officers Arrested in Vehicle Maintenance Corruption Scandal

Three police officers working in the management of the vehicle fleet of the Fès police prefecture were presented to the judge on Wednesday after suspicions of acts of corruption and embezzlement of public funds.
According to the initial findings of the investigation conducted by the BNPJ, their arrest follows the apprehension of a garage owner suspected of fraud in the regular maintenance operations of national security vehicles and the replacement of auto parts, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security.
According to the BNPJ, the three police officers were acting with the latter, in exchange for privileges and sums of money as bribes. One of them is involved in the embezzlement of fuel vouchers reserved for police vehicles, it specified.
The investigations continue under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all the criminal acts attributed to the defendants.
