Ferry Collision Near Tangier Port Causes Major Damage, No Injuries Reported

Not far from the Port of Tangier-Med, a collision occurred between a commercial vessel and a ferry coming from Spain, on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Significant damage was recorded on the ferry.
A Spanish ferry, owned by the Spanish company Balearia, collided head-on with a commercial vessel called Carolina star near Tangier. The impact caused significant material damage, forcing the ferry to return to the Spanish port for maintenance.
A large number of Moroccans residing abroad were returning to the country on board the Balearia. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any loss of life or injuries among the passengers.
This is not the first time a maritime accident has occurred between Morocco and Spain. In 2018, a ship heading to the Port of Tangier-Med, from Italy, had hit the quay of the Port of Barcelona. Several Moroccans on board had been injured.
