Faulty Phone Charger Sparks Deadly Fire in Marrakech Home, Killing Elderly Woman

A fire that broke out in a house in Marrakech has left one dead and several seriously injured, following the explosion of a mobile phone charger. An investigation has been opened.
The tragedy occurred in the province of Chichaoua, claiming the life of a woman in her sixties and leaving three seriously injured, all from the same family, reports Al Akhbar.
The fire caused by a defective charger could not be contained despite the intervention of the neighbors. The flames lasted more than an hour and spread throughout the house, reaching the room of the deceased. The other family members only realized her death when the fire invaded the rest of the house, it is reported.
Alerted, the civil protection elements managed to extinguish the fire. The public prosecutor ordered the transfer of the deceased’s body to the Marrakech morgue for an autopsy, in order to determine the true causes of death. An investigation has also been opened to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy.
