Fatal Crash in Majorca: 3 Young Adults Killed in Collision with Truck

Two young men aged 18 to 23, one of them Moroccan, and a 21-year-old girl died early Sunday morning in a road accident in Palma de Majorca.
The accident occurred at the height of Son Ferriol and is considered the worst recorded in the Balearic Islands since the beginning of the year. The car in which the three deceased young people were traveling, a Volkswagen Sirocco, violently collided with a truck. The impact was so violent that the vehicle was split in two. The two occupants of the truck emerged unscathed from the accident, while the three young people died on the spot, reports Catalunya Diari.
The truck driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. A fourth occupant of the vehicle, a 21-year-old girl, was transferred to the Son Espases hospital in serious condition. Her vital prognosis is not engaged. Excessive speed could be the cause of the accident, according to police sources. Two of the deceased young people were not wearing seat belts and were thrown out of the vehicle, which led to their instant death.
Traffic was blocked for several hours before being restored. As for the bodies of the victims, they were transferred to the medico-legal center for the purposes of the autopsy. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
