Family Seeks Answers in Brutal Toulouse Street Murder of 24-Year-Old Man

The family of Miloud, 24, beaten to death in the middle of the street on February 22 in Toulouse, wants to know the truth about the young man’s death. They hope that all the light will be shed on this murder of rare violence.

Miloul’s loved ones keep the memory of a young man "very helpful" who should have blown out his 25 candles last Tuesday. "Some grandmothers told me that he regularly helped carry the groceries, that he was generous," his father, Abdé, tells La Dépêche. The young man, who worked as a delivery man and was preparing to get married to his fiancée, was well integrated into society and was not known to the police.

On February 22, the young Toulousain was found lying on the public highway by his brother who managed to locate his position. He was violently assaulted by several people when he went to retrieve belongings from the vandalized car of a friend in the Occitan metropolis. With a swollen face and unconscious, Miloud was resuscitated by the emergency services before being transported in critical condition to the hospital where he died two days later.

The police opened an investigation to "investigate the causes of the injuries" and for murder. The agents of the departmental personal injury unit carried out observations in the Bagatelle district of Toulouse on the night of the tragedy. The family of the young man is collaborating with the police to establish the truth, assure Mes Emmanuelle Franck and Alexandre Martin, lawyers for the family.

"When a young person is killed by the police, unjustly, we are outraged and revolt. When thugs kill a young man doing a service in our neighborhoods, under our windows, we remain silent? Two weights, two measures," laments the family, regretting the silence around Miloud’s death, compared to that of Nahel, killed by a police officer in Nanterre at the end of June. They hope that "the perpetrators of this atrocious crime will be quickly identified".
