Extreme Heat Wave Hits Morocco: Temperatures Soar to 43°C in Multiple Provinces

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts hot weather on Thursday and Friday in several Moroccan provinces.
Temperatures ranging from 40 to 43°C will be recorded on Thursday, May 19 in the provinces of Taroudant, Tata and Assa-Zag, the DGM said in an orange-level weather alert bulletin. The same phenomenon (38/41°C) will occur on the same day in the provinces of Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Sidi Kacem, Khemisset, Khouribga, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech and Es-Semara.
Similarly, temperatures (43/46°C) are expected on Friday, May 20 in the provinces of Marrakech, Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Sidi Bennour, Settat, Rehamna, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem and inland in the provinces of Safi and Essaouira. Hot weather (40/43°C) will be recorded on the same day in the provinces of Chefchaouen, Ouazzane, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fès, El Hajeb, Meknes, Khemisset, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Benslimane, Settat, Rehamna, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Taroudant and Tata, it is further specified.
The DGM also announces that the same phenomenon will occur in the provinces of Sefrou, Khenifra, Azilal, Berrechid, Zagora, the Atlantic plains of Larache and Kénitra as well as the interior of Skhirate-Temara and Salé.
