Extreme Heat Wave Hits Morocco: Temperatures to Soar Up to 48°C in Multiple Provinces

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts a heat wave expected from this Friday to Monday in several Moroccan provinces.
Temperatures could reach up to 48°C, with "red" alert levels in the provinces of Fquih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Khouribga, Khénifra, Settat and El Kelaa des Sraghna. On Friday, the provinces of Zagora and Tata will show temperatures ranging between 45 and 48°C, and Béni Mellal and Fquih Ben Salah will record between 42 and 44°C, according to an alert bulletin at the "orange" level of vigilance.
From Saturday to Monday, temperatures ranging between 45 and 48°C will particularly concern the provinces of Tata and Zagora, and temperatures between 43 and 46°C will be recorded in other provinces such as Ouezzane, Meknès, Marrakech and Errachidia. The heat wave will also persist in provinces such as El Hajeb, Ifrane and Azilal, where temperatures will vary between 39 and 43°C during the same period.
In addition to the heat wave, wind gusts ranging from 70 to 85 km/h are expected from Saturday to Tuesday in the northern provinces of the Kingdom, including Tanger-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra and the West of Tétouan. The DGM has issued an orange alert bulletin for these regions.
