Extreme Heat Wave Hits Morocco: Temperatures to Soar to 42°C (107°F) in Multiple Regions

A heat wave (35/42°C) will hit several Moroccan regions such as Agadir and Laâyoune from Monday, May 9 to Wednesday, May 11, 2022, warns the General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN).
Temperatures will vary between 38 to 42°C from Monday to Wednesday, in the provinces of Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Ait Melloul, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, Es-Semara, Tata, Tiznit, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Assa-Zag, Sidi Ifni and the interior of the provinces of Laâyoune, Boujdour, Tarfaya, Oued Ed-Dahab and Aousserd, indicates the DMN in a weather alert bulletin stating an orange level of vigilance.
Similarly, temperatures ranging between 37 and 40 degrees are expected in the provinces of Marrakech, Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Sidi Bennour, Settat, Rehamna, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem and in the interior of the provinces of Safi and Essaouira.
The DMN also forecasts temperatures ranging between 35 and 38°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. This heatwave will affect the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Kénitra, Khemisset, Berrechid, Benslimane and the interior of the provinces of Rabat-Salé and Skhirate-Temara.
