Extreme Heat Wave Grips Morocco: Temperatures Soar to 46°C (115°F)

A heat wave (40 to 46°C) and thunderstorms are forecast in Morocco until Sunday, August 11, 2019. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 46 degrees. The sun, sometimes contested, in the afternoon, will be accompanied by clouds in some localities.
The alert was given on Thursday, August 8, 2019, by the National Meteorology Directorate (DMN) which announces that these temperatures should affect the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Assa-Zag, Aousserd and Errachidia. Temperatures ranging between 44 and 46°C are expected from Wednesday to Sunday in the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Assa-Zag, Aousserd and Errachidia.
It is also announced a heat wave, with temperatures ranging from 40 to 43°C, in several provinces, Boulemane, Guercif, Taroudant, Fquih Ben Saleh, Jerada, Khouribga, Kelaa des Sraghna, Taza, Taourirt, Marrakech, Rhamna, Taounate, Figuig, Khénifra, Fès, Moulay-Yaakoub, Settat, Khemisset, Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Chichaoua, Youssoufia and Oujda, specifies the same source, adding, moreover, that the maximum temperatures could reach 44°C, in the provinces of Fquih Ben Saleh and Guercif.
On the other hand, the weather will be overcast in the afternoon of Thursday, August 8, under many low clouds. Thunderstorms, locally heavy, are expected on Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, in the provinces of Ifrane, Al-Haouz, Azilal, Khénifra, Chichaoua, El Hajeb, Sefrou and Taroudant.
The same source warns that these thunderstorms could also be accompanied by hail and gusts under storms, in places.
