Euro Falls Against Dirham: MRE Exchange Rates Drop

The euro has slightly declined against the Moroccan dirham during the peak summer return period. The movement remains limited, but it is somewhat less favorable for MREs who exchange or transfer euros to Morocco.

According to Bank Al-Maghrib’s weekly indicators, the dirham appreciated by 0.2% against the euro between July 2 and 8, 2026. It also gained 0.4% against the US dollar during the same period.

In detail, the euro’s reference rate moved from 10.708 dirhams on July 2 to 10.683 dirhams on July 8. It had held at 10.709 dirhams on July 3, before declining from July 6 onwards.

For MREs, the effect remains modest but unfavorable. An exchange of 1,000 euros yielded approximately 10,708 dirhams on July 2, compared to 10,683 dirhams six days later, a loss of 25 dirhams.

This development occurs in the heart of the summer season, when many Moroccans residing in Europe travel to Morocco or transfer money to their families.
