Epic Solar Blackout: Morocco's Ancient Wonders Await 2027 Eclipse

"The eclipse of the century", a solar eclipse of more than six hours, highly anticipated by astronomy enthusiasts due to its exceptional duration, will be visible among other places in Morocco.

This is the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century and it will appear in the sky on August 2, 2027, reports L’internaute, which recalls that the last one that lasted as long was in 1991. The longest eclipse will plunge the Earth into darkness for more than six hours and will be clearly visible in historical places where cloud cover will be almost non-existent. According to forecasts, the solar eclipse of the century will start from the Atlantic Ocean at the level of the Strait of Gibraltar, cross North Africa, including the north of Morocco and Algeria, the center of Tunisia and the north of Libya, then the Middle East (Upper Egypt and the Nile Valley, southwest of Saudi Arabia, west of Yemen, northeast tip of Somalia) before ending in the Indian Ocean.

The eclipse will be centered on the south of Luxor in Egypt, where it will be visible for 6 minutes and 23 seconds. It will fly over major archaeological sites such as the Valley of the Kings or Pharaonic temples such as Karnak, which makes the event unique. In Europe, it will be fully visible in Spain, particularly in the southern tip of Andalusia at the beginning. Thus, the coastal cities of Cadiz and Malaga will find themselves in the dark for 2 minutes and 55 seconds for Cadiz and 1 minute and 53 seconds for Malaga. On the other hand, the eclipse will be partially visible in France, particularly throughout metropolitan France around 11 a.m. It will be more visible in Toulouse and Marseille, in Corsica and on the Côte d’Azur.
