Emirati Hotel Giant Rotana Expands to Marrakech, Acquires Palmeraie Resort

A new international brand has set its sights on Marrakech. Its name: Rotana, a hotel management company from the Middle East, which has concluded a management agreement to operate the Palmeraie Resort.
The Palmeraie Resort, located in the heart of the Marrakech palm grove, was owned by the Berrada family. In 2015, it was sold 70% to the Emirati group Aabar, one of the components of the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment company. This resort includes the Golf Rotana Hotel (5 stars with 315 rooms), the Golf Club Rotana (11 exclusive suites) and the Palmeraie Palace (314 rooms). The latter is about to be renovated.
The hotel chain has big dreams. "We will follow the expansion of the market and sustainable growth by extending the presence of our brand to new geographical areas," says Guy Hutchinson, CEO of Palmeraie Resort, to L’Économiste. "We want to bring our touch and our experience of nearly three decades in authentic hospitality to the Palmeraie Resort, which already has a long history and has built a solid reputation in the destination, which we will ensure to develop," he adds.
Already, the Golf Rotana Hotel and Golf Club Rotana have undergone some changes after the takeover of this hotel chain. Similarly, the Rotana company has proceeded to reopen the Golf Hotel.
