Elderly Moroccan Man Stranded in Ceuta, Desperate to Return Home

A Moroccan man about 90 years old has been wandering the streets of Ceuta since May 25, in the hope of crossing the border to return to Morocco. Probably mentally ill, his situation does not seem to concern the authorities of the city or even on the Moroccan side.
The nonagenarian, whose name is Ahmed, claims to have a house in Morocco. However, his so-called family residing in Spain claim to have no kind of relationship with him. In a physical condition that is worrying, the Moroccan spends his days wandering around the port of Ceuta, hoping for an opportunity to enter Morocco.
Ahmed can barely move on his own and is not coherent when he speaks, which suggests that he would be a mentally ill person. The authorities of the city do not seem to be interested in his case, reports El Faro de Ceuta, adding that no urgent measures have been taken to take care of him. Several residents of the autonomous city have welcomed him into their homes, but he always ends up returning to the street because he does not want to stay locked up.
The real problem is that Ceuta no longer has a social center to accommodate these social cases. The city council has announced that it will build one, but it has not yet seen the light of day.
