Eight Foreign Tourists Arrested in Morocco for Counterfeit Currency Scheme

Eight foreign tourists were arrested by the Regional Judicial Police Service of Agadir and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance. They are suspected of being involved in a network of foreign counterfeit currency circulation.
The investigation began after the arrest of a woman trying to exchange counterfeit 20 pound sterling banknotes in a currency exchange office. This trail led the investigators to Agadir, where the suspects were apprehended. The investigations revealed a larger network of exchange of counterfeit currency.
Thorough searches in a villa rented by the suspects in Taghazout, a coastal town north of Agadir, led to the discovery of seven other counterfeit banknotes. Currently, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, a judicial investigation is underway to unravel all the facts, contexts and antecedents related to this case.
