Eid El-Fitr Shopping Surge: Families Flock to Stores for Festive Attire Despite Economic Challenges

The markets and other ready-to-wear clothing sales outlets are already in a festive mood. The crowds are huge, much to the delight of the merchants. Parents and children are rushing to buy new clothes despite the economic gloom caused by Covid-19.
Putting smiles on children’s faces is the desire of all parents during Eid. This tradition continues and no one wants to be left out. In Rabat, Marrakech or Fez, small and large stores are stormed to have the ideal outfit to bring a smile. A vox populi and one notices that there are all prices, all ranges and all colors for all ages. Each parent, depending on their budget, can afford it. "It’s an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. It’s one of the good times of the year," said a merchant to the MAP.
While the crowds are large in the markets of the popular neighborhoods of Rabat for example, some middle-class parents prefer to focus on exploring the clothing market in shopping malls that house most of the international brands. Others still prefer to shop online with advance orders, as explained by one mother. The celebration promises to be beautiful in the families thanks to the parents who do not intend to break the tradition. The children will be honored and everyone is rushing to play their part.
